Guitar Lessons

Guitar Lessons

"Learning to play classical guitar, and exploring its broad range of musical possibilities, will bring the student many years of personal enjoyment."

Basic Foundations in Guitar consists of weekly sessions designed for the entry level guitarist.  Alfred's Basic Guitar Method is taught for those who want a general introduction into guitar playing or want to explore other genres of guitar style.  For children 12 and under the learning experience is enhanced when a parent accompanies the child during the lesson.

Classical Guitar consists of weekly sessions designed for the entry level guitarist. The guitar methods of Christopher Parkening or Aaron Shearer are clearly presented and cover all aspects of technique, theory and performance.

Master Class Lessons are offered for the guitarist who has some experience with the instrument and wishes to improve his or her musical skills.  Advanced musicianship, concert repertoire and performance skills are emphasized.

Group Lessons are available for those who wish a class setting and are presented as a four part series.  Each lesson covers the basic elements of guitar and provides new music for the beginning student to enjoy.

Guitar Ensembles are for the guitarist who wants to learn the elements of ensemble playing.  Lessons also include an opportunity for performance and recitals in various settings.

Guitar Supplies

There are two fine music stores in Helena both have been a great help to my students in finding good guitars, strings and music.  What I think is important, is that they service what they sell.  For Acoustic Guitars most everything can be found locally.  For the Classical Guitar it is sometimes difficult for the local stores to carry all the music and transcriptions that are available.  So try the links below to see whats available and then have the local store order for you.

Guitar Solo has been around for a long time and has a large selection specifically for classical guitar:

Guitar Salon International is also a great site featuring high end instuments and accesories:
